How Much Is My Face Worth?

For today's post, I'm going to be sharing with you the products I use on my face daily, and how much it all adds up to.
This selfie does not feature the makeup I've been wearing more recently, the camera has not been nice to me lately and I can't take a good selfie with the makeup I wrote about in this post *cries*

I see this tag do its rounds on youtube and in the blogging world quite often, and I love to see other people's videos/posts, so it only felt right to do my own. I think this is such a cool idea because we often buy pieces of makeup on their own without giving much thought to how much we actually spend, maybe this is gonna be a wake up call to stop buying so much! Who knows?

NYX Proof It!: £6.00

How much is my face worth? £76.95

Wow. Daily I'm putting £76.95 of makeup on my face! Not so bad though, right? I've seen some people's face be worth over £200! This was actually so much of a shock though, I expected it to be a fair amount of money, but this is almost £80! Crazy!

Have you done something similar? How much is your face worth? If you've done this I'd love for you to leave a link in the comments, these posts always interest me!
Thankyou so much for reading, I really hope you enjoyed this post!
Have a wonderful day!
Until next time!

My Favourite Makeup Brushes: October 2017

I realised recently that when doing my makeup each day, I'm actually starting to gravitate towards specific brushes (as oppose to just using the cleanest brush that'll do the job!). In this post, I'm gonna tell you what they are.

When I first started dabbling in makeup, I was so overwhelmed by the amount of brushes on the market and their uses. Remembering this feeling, I thought doing a post on my favourites and why might be helpful for someone starting out, or just looking to expand their collection, particularly as the majority of the brushes I use are low-end, affordable options.

Ellen Tracy Highlight brush (unfortunately I can't find a link)
When I first got this brush in a set, I actually thought I'd never use it! I used to use a eyeshadow brush so that my highlight would be concentrated and dramatic. While I still do that (mainly on nights out), for every day use I've started using the Ellen Tracy brush as it's bigger and gives a more subtle highlight, which gives the illusion that my skin is glowing and that I drink enough water and get enough sleep. is there anything more you need from a brush? I think not.

Real Techniques Buffing Brush
Alrighty, so I've had this brush for years, and I've had a love/hate relationship with it, but, at the moment I'm digging it, I use it after using a foundation brush to apply my base, and while it takes a little longer, my foundation is perfectly blended, I rarely feel the need to use concealer when using this method to put on foundation.

Eco Tools Lip Brush
I got this in a set (similar one linked). In recent years I've never understood the need to a lip brush, lipstick comes in a bullet the perfect shape to apply the product directly onto your lips, or with a wand that makes application easy, right? I've found that with using a brush, application is much more precise, especially when using matte liquid products that can stain the skin around your lips if your not careful. It actually makes applying a second layer easier too and it's easier to define the shape of your lips. An all around win!

Real Techniques eye brush in 200
When I first got this set, I disregarded this brush, it looked too big and too hard to use. I've recently found, though that it's perfect for applying a one shade over your eyelid, which is what I tend to do. Unfortunately as much as I love and appreciate great eyeshadow skills, I am not one of those magical wizards that possess them, I'm afraid.

Unicorn Flat Top Blending Brush
I got this brush for free in a set the the wonderful Liz drew my attention to. While the offer ended a while back, the whole set of 10 brushes still only costs £5.89 - a bargain if you ask me!
This brush is so fluffy, and is great for blending harsh lines (like if you're a failure at eyeshadow like me and mess up putting one colour on your lid!). I also found it's really good for blending colours on your lower lash line (y'know, for if you're feelin' fancy!). It also looks super pretty, which can't hurt! Considering this set is from Amazon, I'm super impressed with the quality! You can check out my full review here.

I could go on forever about the makeup brushes I love, but these are the ones that I've reached for regularly lately.
Thanks so much for reading! Why don't you leave me a comment letting me know your favourite makeup brushes? Can't hurt for me to find some more gems!
Until next time!

ELF foundation Review!

So, just like every other British blogger around, I was ecstatic to hear about the ELF launch in the UK, we've been able to buy their products online for years, but it's not very helpful to match a foundation to your skin when all you have for reference is a colour on a screen, is it?
I, like most others, was super excited to get my hands on their Flawless Finish Foundation, I've had a lot of luck with other products from them over the years, and love a good, cheap foundation as much as the next person.
Of course I had to give it a mention and review on here didn't I? After all, what's a British beauty blog in 2017 without a review of ELF?

As it's nice to finish on a positive, lets start with the negatives. I was actually very impressed with the product, but straight away, the colour range isn't great. I'm not super pale (e.g. pale enough to burn instead of tan, but not so pale that I'm mistaken for a vampire), but the lightest shade was the only one to match my skin, which was always out of stock and I was actually only just able to get it last week! But this shade matched my skin perfectly, meaning that anyone that's super pale wouldn't be able to wear this foundation. Also, there's not much choice for darker skin. The colour range is just not there. Another thing I find with most ELF products is their packaging is super bulky, making it hard to travel with and heavy, although I believe this has been a complaint for years with ELF products and is just something you have to accept if you buy their products, I guess.

See what I mean about how bulky this is?
Thank god it comes with a pump!

The foundation itself though is great. I actually don't have a problem with it. It's budget friendly at £7.50 a bottle, and the coverage is actually pretty good! Doesn't cover everything, but it's enough to cover my tomato coloured cheeks, which I very much appreciate. It can be a little difficult to apply, as it dries quickly, but I find it quite easy, and the finish is semi matte, they don't do a fully matte option, which is a shame, but it's nothing a little powder can't fix. It also smells really good too, which is definitely a bonus. The foundation also lasts all day, which is good, one of my biggest fears when testing a new foundation is whether I'm gonna look in a mirror at 2pm and realise that my face has melted off and there's nothing I can do 'til I get home in a few hours. It comes with a pump too, which I very much appreciate. Seriously, a foundation without one lasts me like 3 uses and a load of wasted product lol!
Overall, the colour range is disappointing, and the packaging could be better, but I really like the product and it's become my new everyday foundation!

Thanks so much for reading, have you tried any of the ELF products? What's your favourite?
Until next time!

Would You Rather? Beauty Edition

I saw this on Seana's blog, and as you know I love a good tag, even more so when it involves beauty so I had to do it! click here for Seana's post, lets go!

Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks and lipglosses or lose all your palettes and eyeshadows?
Easy, palettes and eyeshadows! I quite often go without eyeshadow when I do makeup, but lipstick? That's another story!
Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again?

Chop it all off definitely! When trying something new, my motto always is 'don't worry, hair grows back!' Also, have you ever tried maintaining a mane for long, thick, frizzy hair? Impossible!
Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek?
Is neither allowed? I never wear blush, my cheeks are naturally super red so I'm usually putting on makeup to hide them!

If you had $1000 to spend, would you rather buy clothes or makeup?
Makeup definitely! I'm not really a clothes type-of-a-gal, like, I wear them, obviously, but I'm not crazy about brands or anything, makeup on the other hand, do you know how many Lime Crime lipsticks I can buy with $1000?
Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner, or eyeliner as lipstick?

Probably eyeliner as lipstick, it'd be waaay easier to apply and you can find eyeliners in every colour!
Would you rather only shop at MAC or Sephora?

Us lot in the UK aren't blessed with Sephora, so I'd have to say MAC, buying makeup online is dodgy if you haven't already tried the brand and know what colours work for you or if the textures are nice etc.
ould you rather only use one eyeshadow colour or one lipcolour for the rest of your life?
Eyeshadow, I generally tend to only stick to an orange (or maybe brown) anyways
Would you rather wear winter clothes in summer or summer clothes in winter?
I wear winter clothes all year round anyway! I live for the cold weather, dark mornings and Christmas!

Would you rather have dark nails or bright nails all year around?
Dark? I don't really know because I don't really paint my nails

Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a ponytail or a messy bun?
Ponytail. Messy buns are my nemesis. They always look so good on other people, but I'm not lying when I say I look like the poop emoji when I wear one.

Would you rather give up your favourite lip product or your favourite eyeproduct?
This is so tricky! Probably lip product because I have so many I love using, but because I'm never too adventurous with my eyes I'd be lost without the products I use now!

Would you rather never be able to paint your nails or never use lipgloss?
Lipgloss. I don't do my nails often but sometimes I like to make an effort. Lipgloss is gross to me. who wants something on their face their hair is just gonna stick to anyway?

Would you rather shave your eyebrows and have none or sharpie them in everyday?
Don't. Do. This. To. Me. I am highly uneducated about brows as it is so I feel unqualified to answer the question.

Would you rather live without makeup or nailpolish?
Is that even a question? Nail polish. I am not pretty enough to be roaming the streets showing my bare face!
Thanks so much for reading!
Would you answer these questions differently? As for tagging, I'm gonna tag the people I want to do it on Twitter (you can follow me here), but if you answer these questions I'd love for you to leave a link! If you don't have a blog, you're more than welcome to choose your favourites and leave them in a comment!
Until next time!

Monthly Playlist: September 2017

So, it feels like I've been a little distant from the ol' blog this month, although I've managed to get semi-regular posts up, they've all had to be scheduled, which means not writing for sometimes 2 weeks because life has suddenly become super busy. It's been the best and busiest month I've had in a looong time! It's actually been a bit of a blur, everythings gone so fast but this month has treated me very well, so, thanks, August!

August saw me finally leave the job I hated so much and start working full time. My new job is shift work, which is way more tiring than I ever anticipated! But it's so nice to not dread going to work!
I also went to Reading Festival which could possibly be the best experience of my life! If you've been reading this blog for a couple months, you'll know how much I adore music, so going to a festival was incredible for me. I saw my two favourite artists live, as well as finding new music to make my ears and my mind happy :).
Look how close we were!
Halsey's set was beautiful!
Yeah I totally cried because we were so close to Halsey, now, if she did see me she's gonna know me as 'that kid with blue lipstick and a hella ugly crying face!' The girl with me is Leo, who I met there, she was so incredibly nice to me and gave me lots of hugs while reassuring me that I wasn't being stupid I was just overwhelmed. Here's her Twitter.

Of course I had to drag my friend to see The Pretty Reckless (again), who were incredible (again)

Fifth Harmony's new album came out this month too (on the day I went to reading, actually), which I sorta slept on for a while before listening to it in full and realising that there are definitely some gems!
I also realised just how amazing the blogging community is, the community is full of so many amazing, supportive people, and I'm so proud to say I'm part of it. So many things to be happy and grateful for this month, it's been happy :).

Anywho, lets get into the music I've been loving!
Bad At Love- Halsey I know, I know, you're probably bored of seeing this in my playlist posts, but seeing it live really brought it to life for me, there's also a music video for it now which I am diggin'!
December - Neck Deep
In Bloom - Neck Deep Neck Deep is one of those bands I knew I needed to listen to but never got round to doing it, we saw a little bit of their set at Reading (it clashed with Halsey) as my friend likes them and they played these songs and I actually really liked them! I'm definitely gonna listen to some of their newer stuff!
Lonely Night - Fifth Harmony
Angel - Fifth Harmony Their album came out, and although I'm not crazy about it, these are a couple of the songs I do like. Lonely night has this sorta sassy vibe (and I love me a good bit of sass!) and Angel has such a different sound to what they've done before and I am totally here for it! Also, did anyone see their VMA performance? Slaaaay!
OMG - Camila Cabello Okay, so I'm not her biggest fan, and I don't love a lot of her new music, but there's something about this song. I actually hated it when I first heard it, bu I find myself playing it more and more often, and now I'm really feeling it :)
Powerless - Waterparks
Royal - Waterparks
Little Violence - Waterparks Okay, so as if going to Reading Festival wasn't enough, I'm going to see Waterparks this month, so it's only right to play their music, right? These are my faves, but their whole album is a great listen!
Attention - Charlie Puth We have the radio on at work and this song literally comes on all the time, such a bop though!
Thanks so much for reading, do you love any of these songs? What songs would you add to the list?
Until next time,
Cait xx
